US festival to host Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’

Iran’s short ‘Driving Lessons’ is to vie at the 2020 Through Women’s Eyes film festival in the US.

Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’ has been selected to vie at the 21st edition of the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival (TWE) in the US.

“Bahareh must have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not left together without a third party’s presence,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Written by Marjan Riahi, the film’s cast is comprised of Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, the short has previously competed at the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada.

The 2020 TWE presents the best films by or about women from around the world.

The fest is slated for March 6-8, 2020.
